Avon, NC

Avon – the perfect blend of coastal shops, restaurants, and outdoor activities galore, but also space, serenity and sweeping views you won’t find at the northern beaches.  Its proximity to the Gulf Stream makes it a fisherman’s dream, with Frank & Fran’s Bait & Tackle Shop right across the street. Key to Paradise is only steps away from shops, restaurants, ice cream and more.  We can’t rave enough about Muffins and Scones – you’ll want to choose a different coffee and breakfast treat every single day.  You’ll love walking to Cups and Cones for a treat in the evenings, as well as the Froggy Dog Restaurant and bar for dinner or a drink. Avon boasts walking and bike riding paths throughout the village, so even more shops and restaurants are within reach, as well as the Avon Pier, which you don’t want to miss!  Unlike other beaches on Hatteras Island, Avon has a full service grocery store with pick up service.  Need surfboards, kayaks or other water sports gear?  Check out multiple surf shops less than 5 minutes away. If you love shopping, don’t miss the Fisherman’s Daughter, where you’ll find all the cutest brand name coastal accessories.

Avon sits just south of the Tri-Villages of Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo, and a world famous windsurfing and water sports locale -the Canadian Hole- on the Pamlico Sound. This day use area is perfect for watersports or just a sound beach day with calmer waters. Avon is just north of the famous Hatteras Lighthouse, nearby Buxton, Frisco and the charming fishing village of Hatteras. If you’re missing the hustle and bustle of the northern beaches, there are shops, entertainment and restaurants galore up the road in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. In the opposite direction, hop on the Hatteras Ferry to Okracoke Island, the most natural and untouched beautiful beach in the OBX. We love that Avon is central to all that the Outer Banks has to offer, and, unlike the northern beaches, your pups are welcome on the beach all year long!

We can’t wait for you to experience the Key to Paradise in the one of the most one-of-a-kind beach towns in the world!
